Facial Aesthetics Frequently Asked Questions

What facial aesthetics treatments are available at Holmes Chapel Dental Practice?

Our main facial aesthetics treatments are wrinkle-reducing injections to improve the appearance of your expressive fine lines and wrinkles, and dermal fillers to add volume to your face and reduce deep, static lines.

What are wrinkle-reducing injections and how do they work?

Wrinkle-reducing injections use tiny quantities of Botulinum Toxin Type A to relax targeted facial muscles and stop them from contracting under your skin. This helps to smooth and noticeably reduce expressive fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the upper half of your face.

What are dermal fillers and how do they work?

Dermal fillers are based on hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally-occurring carbohydrate that is found in the connective tissues of the human body. Hyaluronic acid helps the skin to maintain a youthful volume and to look and feel hydrated, but it begins to deplete from our 20s onwards. Dermal fillers can restore volume, improving the appearance of lips, nose-to-mouth lines, and marionette lines.

Are facial aesthetics treatments safe?

The facial aesthetics treatments we offer are widely used and have a proven safety record. It is always important to have these treatments under the care of a suitably qualified and experienced dentist, doctor or nurse prescriber, all of whom can work with prescription-only products such as Botulinum Toxin Type A.

The side effects associated with wrinkle reducing injections and dermal fillers are usually mild and self-correcting, but in rare cases, other side effects have been more severe. We will explain all of the potential side effects at your initial consultation and what we do to minimise their chances of occurring so that you can make an informed choice about your treatment.

Will I need to take time off work?

No. The facial aesthetics treatments we offer can be completed over a lunchtime or similarly short appointment so you should be able to get straight back on with your day.

Will my face still look natural?

If you’re considering a facial aesthetics treatment for the first time, you may have questions about how your face will look afterwards. We have a conservative approach to facial aesthetics, believing that we can always top-up a treatment if we need to. When you come to Holmes Chapel Dental Practice for facial aesthetics treatments, we will ensure that you still look like you, just a rested, refreshed and rejuvenated version.
